WHY YOU ARE LOSING MONEY IF YOU DON'T HAVE A  FREQUENT FLYER CREDIT CARD, OR TWO!

If you don't have one or are not using your Airline Credit Card for all your purchases you are missing out on turning the dollars you spend into bonus miles that could be paying for your next airline ticket.  You earn bonus miles in so many ways.  Not only does the Credit Cards give you bonus miles, usually one per every dollar spent, but they also offer you other opportunities to gain miles such as the programs that are described in the next column.

You can gain bonus miles when you transfer balances from other checking accounts, gain double bonus miles when you shop at designated stores, or  gain up to 5,000 bonus miles for having a friend sign up for a card. Right now, Delta SkyMiles program is offering 10,000 Frequent Flyer Bonus Miles,
just for signing up to get a Gold American Express Card. See this offer below!

The promotions are endless and this is over and above the regular frequent flyer bonus award miles that you earn when you fly on a paid ticket.

To sweeten the pot even further both
Delta Airlines and United are offering FREE companion tickets when you apply for their credit cards.

So, you can see there are many ways to
gain miles or companion tickets or vouchers which will have you FLYING FOR FREE!

COMPARING TWO LEADING AIRLINE'S
CREDIT CARDS

          DELTA   VS.   UNITED

Miles per $1 spent:

Delta's new "Always" DOUBLE MILES Program gives 2 miles for each $1 spent at: Supermarkets, Gas Stations, Drugstores, Home Improvement Stores, US Postal Service, Wireless Phone and of course, when you purchase anything from Delta Air Lines.

United still gives 1 bonus mile for $1 spent. (But, I predict they will be matching Delta's offer soon.)

Signing Bonus:

Delta is now offering 10,000 bonus miles for signing up for its Gold card, with an option to gain another 10,000 according to what you spend. (See banner offer below
this article.)

United is offering a Free companion ticket.  You need to check their Web site, as offers are always changing and they have offered bonus miles in the past and will again.

Companion Ticket:

Offered by both Delta and United.  You need to check their offers, depending on what level card you are applying for. Be sure to check if the "Companion Ticket" can be used with any fare. The ones that can only be used with a "Full Fare" can be a rip-off, as it might cost you more to pay full fare, than buying two low priced tickets. Read more about FREE
Companion tickets in our Article that can be found under our "New Features" section on our Home Page.
Check ticket prices with our Low Fare Finder

Transferring Balances:

Delta has a liberal policy and from time to time will send out blank checks for you to use to transfer balances, but not often do they give you the chance to gain bonus miles for this.  They do offer that the checks will be free of fees, and that is very important. Be careful when you transfer
balances that all fees are free, otherwise it could cost you more than what you might gain.

United sends out an offer approximately once a year, sometimes twice for double, rarely triple miles for balances transferred. They also make their offers free of transfer fees.  Not all card holders get this offer. It appears to only go to the ones who carry a balance from time to time.  We do not recommend that you carry a balance on any credit cards.

Discount Coupons:

Delta isn't offering this, at this time.

United offers $25 discount coupon and upgrade certificate.

Other Perks:

Look for other offers such as United's earn up to 15,000 Bonus Miles by having three friends (5,000 each) apply for a card.  They send this out to their loyal card holders every other year, or so.

If you really want to stay on top of this you can go to our  LINKS page and click on your favorite Airline's Frequent Flyer Programs, to see their latest offers.

SkyMiles(r) card:

FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAMS ARE BIG!
Last year the Airlines made over 3 Billion Dollars on their Frequent Flyer Programs.

Airlines make money in two ways, with FF. bonus miles.
1. Giving them away to their loyal customers keeps us loyal, which saves them tons of money on advertising.  (It is a proven fact that it is much easier to sell something to a loyal customer, than to have to go looking for new ones.)
2. They actually make more money selling the bonus miles to their PARTNERS, then they make selling you  seats. A seat that costs you $300 to buy, might make the Airline $600, from selling the bonus miles to their Partners to give away

Partners such as:
hotels, car rentals, telecommunications, credit cards, realtors, mortgage lenders, shopping malls, etc. are being added almost on a daily basis? There is much money to be had in this arena otherwise why would this be blossoming so.

You can gain bonus miles for almost anything you do.
FLYING FOR FREE HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER !!!!!

Bonus Miles are sold to Airline Partners for $.02 & $.025 each. A FREE domestic ticket, (25,000 bonus miles) would make between $500 and $625 for the Airline.

WHEN YOU TRAVEL, THE COST OF THE  BONUS MILES HAS ALREADY BEEN FIGURED IN, SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL USE THEM TO YOUR ADVANTAGE. BONUS MILES ARE CURRENCY!

IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING THE BENEFITS FROM AIRLINE AND PARTNER PROMOTIONS FOR GAINING SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF BONUS MILES,
YOU ARE LOSING MONEY.

Bottom Line:
You need an Airline Credit Card to take advantage of many of these promotions
