CAN YOU BE LOYAL TO TWO AIRLINES AT THE SAME TIME?
As you know if you have our book, I place a high priority on Airline loyalty. It is a "win-win" situation.  The Airlines place high priority on it too, that is why they are willing to give away FREE trips and other perks, just to keep us loyal to them.  In Strategy #3,  I recommend that you try to "Always fly the same Airline, if possible."

The reasoning behind this is that because most people don't focus on a FREE ticket as a goal, they end up flying on too many different Airlines, which results in diluting their flying power. It takes a lot longer to get a FREE ticket when you are building mileage in too many places, spreading your miles too thin. Did you know that over 70% of all bonus miles will never be used?  Why? Because people don't get enough in one place to use them. The same strategy of loyalty goes for how you use your Airline's Frequent Flyer Credit Card. What I call "The Card". You should be using your FF Card with only one, or two Airlines.

But, it is also true that being loyal to one or two Airlines does not rule out being a member of more than one Frequent Flyer Program. Other Airline FF Programs give you benefits, perks, travel opportunities and even more miles while you are building miles in your primary FF program. And if they are good enough, as Delta has become, they will give your primary program a run for their money, when it comes to making their program really competitive..

Now, my prediction has come true. As competition and profits have pushed the FF programs' growth, (29 million members in Delta's, alone) they have gained more and more partners. This has allowed them to come up with new offers that have given us even more ways to earn large quantities of FF bonus miles. Over four years ago, I said that the competition, "fueled" by the internet will turn this into a "Flying Revolution" benefiting all of us who love to FLY FREE. By having the Airlines offer more and more ways for us to earn miles, they keep us loyally flying with them. It also keeps us buying with them and their partners, which actually puts more money in their pockets than the sale of seats. This trend is good for us, too as it makes it even easier to gain FREE flights without leaving the ground. 

Today, you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't belong to at least two good Airline FF Programs. Without much trouble I have been gaining miles for two round-trip flights to Europe or equivalent, on my primary program every year. I don't have to do crazy schemes like fly non-stop for two weeks, or buy $2,000 worth of pudding so I can get the miles. I don't spend my own money doing it, I just use as many of the Airline's own offers that fit with what I would be spending anyway and "Voila"!, before I know it, my account is filled up again.
I am not piggy, I don't need a million miles, although that would be fun!  All I need is to be able to take as many FREE trips as I have the time to take them..

Since Delta started their  "Always Double Miles American Express" Program, and partnered with United, they have become one of the easiest Airlines for gaining bonus miles for FREE tickets.

Delta has become so generous. Within only a few months my account had swelled to almost 60,000 miles. (and I hadn't even been trying) I was planning on using 35,000 miles to go to Hawaii, (one of the best uses for your miles, do the math) but with these extra miles, I am seriously thinking of Australia and New Zealand again. My most difficult decision is where I will go!
